Our Homeline Espresso Machines...
The Rancilio Silvia Classic was introduced in 1997, a home espresso machine with commercial-grade components and a single boiler. Almost a quarter of a century later, the Silvia Pro X was released as an upgrade to the Silvia Classic, a dual boiler home espresso machine with added features.
What are the biggest differences?
The biggest difference, apart from size, is that the Silvia Pro X is more feature rich. Over the years, the Silvia Classic has been beloved by home users to tinker and modify. While developing the Silvia Pro X, we added some of those most popular features.
The main difference in features is that the Silvia Pro X is a dual boiler espresso machine with dual PID, while the Silvia Classic is a single boiler. The dual boilers allow the user to steam milk while extracting espresso, while the Silvia Classic requires you to switch between two boiler modes. Logistically, it makes using the Pro X a little easier when creating milk-based drinks.
The PID on the dual boilers of the Silvia Pro X is a more accurate and advanced temperature control system. These PID’s are the same as those used on our commercial espresso machines. They are very accurate and give more temperature stability. In comparison, the Silvia Classic uses small thermal couples that live on the outside of the boiler, meaning that there is a very slight delay when reading temperature.
