Rancilio Specialty machines were crafted to let baristas access higher control over their espresso extraction. The RS1's digital interface allows you to dial in various metrics with ease, including manually inputting a specific volume output for your espresso shot.

The group head is where hot pressurized water is dispensed, meeting the ground coffee in your portafilter to brew espresso. On Rancilio Specialty espresso machines, you can customize your group volume, automating the water output of your espresso shot. This allows for another metric of control for the barista when dialing in espresso.
1) On the touchscreen, click the ‘G1 + G2 (+G3)’ button to see your group head information. The column on the left is where your total water output is listed.
2) Choose the button you would like to program.
3) Increase or decrease your volume in mL by using the plus or minus.
4) Save with the back arrow or hit X to cancel.
Congrats! You have successfully programmed your group volume!
